Why Segments Matter

Segments address a key challenge in advocacy programs: nurturing advocates along a structured path instead of constantly requesting one-off activities. By grouping advocates strategically, you can provide targeted experiences that align with their interests, engagement level, and program lifecycle.

How Segments Can Be Used

  • Create Unique Experiences – Design campaigns or missions that match the attributes or actions of each segment.

  • Group Advocates for Specific Initiatives – For example, hand-raisers for video testimonials can be placed in a dedicated segment to streamline recruitment and communications.

  • Lifecycle Advocacy Paths – Advocates can move in and out of segments automatically based on external data, creating a dynamic progression through your advocacy program.

Creating a Segment

Follow these steps to create a new segment and tailor experiences for your advocates:

  1. Navigate to the Segment Screen

Open your program’s segment screen and click Create New Segment.

  2. Enter Basic Information

Fill in the segment name and any other required details.

  3. Choose the Segment Type

    • Static – A one-time query of users

    • Dynamic – Continuously checks to see if users meet the defined condition

  4. Click Next

  5. Add Conditions

    • Click Add Another Condition

    • Select the data sources you want to use for this condition

    • Choose an operator (e.g., equals, greater than) and enter the value for the condition

  6. Create the Segment

    Click Create Segment to finalize

  7. Manage the Segment

After creation, you can copy its invite link or delete the segment if needed
