Overview

Evi is UserEvidence's Slack app for customer references. Instead of switching tools to find a customer reference, you ask Evi. Instead of a separate approval queue, Customer Success approves from a Slack message. Instead of chasing status updates, the whole story of one reference plays out in a single thread.

Who Evi is for

Sellers

Ask, in plain language, who can vouch for you on a deal — and get named advocates back in the thread. Raise a reference request without leaving Slack. See each request move to completion in one thread.

Customer Success

Approve or decline a reference request with a single click, right from the Slack message that asked.

Getting started

Evi installs like any Slack app, but for now our team handles the install on your behalf.

  1. Ask your Customer Success contact for an install link. They'll send a one-time link for your workspace.

  2. Open the link and review the permissions. It opens Slack's standard authorization screen, scoped to your workspace only.

  3. Approve. That's it — Evi is available in your workspace immediately, and your admin only has to do this once.

Using Evi

Ask Evi

Mention @Evi in any channel, or message it directly, and describe the deal in plain language.

@Evi need a reference for Acme — healthcare, security buyer, sooner is better

Evi reacts to confirm it's on it, then replies in the thread with named, matched advocates.

Keep the conversation going in the same thread — Evi remembers what you've already told it, so a follow-up question doesn't need the full context repeated.

Request a reference

Type /reference-request (or the shorthand /reference) in any channel. A short form opens for the opportunity, contact, deadline, and any notes. Submit it, and the request enters the pipeline under your name.

These are the same commands you use today — nothing changes for you when your workspace moves to Evi. Run /reference help any time for a reminder.

Approve or decline

When a request needs sign-off, the admin gets a Slack message with Approve and Decline buttons. One click sends the request down that path — a decline can route to a different advocate, or hand the decision back to the requester.

Follow a reference to completion

As a request moves — advocate matched, call scheduled, call completed, or declined — you're notified right in the original thread, so the whole lifecycle lives in one place. Notification rules carry over unchanged from the previous app for now; a more configurable version is on our roadmap.

Evi's home in Slack

Evi has its own space in your sidebar — an App Home with a Home tab and a Messages tab — so you can always find it and start typing, even if you don't remember the exact command.

Security

Every approval button Evi sends is protected by a single-use, opaque token: only our servers can resolve what it's for, and a link can't be reused, forwarded, or replayed to approve something it wasn't meant for. This protection is live today for Evi and the previous Slack app alike.
