Embedding Your Evidence on Your Website

T
Written by Tom Aristone

The UserEvidence embed puts your research library or a microsite directly on your own website with one short snippet of code. It replaces the older iframe embed, and it looks and behaves like a native part of your page.

This article is for marketers and program owners who decide what to embed and where. We also have technical documentation you can share with your web team to handle the installation.

What you can embed

You can embed two kinds of UserEvidence content, and you can put both on the same page.

  • Research library — your full library of customer evidence. Visitors can search it and narrow it with filters such as industry or company size.

  • Microsite — a curated collection you build in UserEvidence. Assets appear in the exact order you arranged them, with the collection's title, description and call-to-action button.

Visitors see a grid of cards: testimonials, stats, charts, case studies, videos and more. Clicking a card does whatever you set for that asset in UserEvidence (see below). To see it on real customer pages, browse the live examples.

Why it replaces the iframe embed

The old embed showed a UserEvidence page inside a fixed window (an iframe) on your site. The new embed builds the content right into your page instead.

  • It matches your brand. It uses your website's fonts automatically, and your web team can match your colors, corners and spacing. The iframe could not be restyled.

  • No more awkward scrollbars or cut-off content. It fills the width of its space and grows to fit its content, on desktop and mobile.

  • More control per page. Each placement can show a different number of items per page, columns, search, filters and wording.

  • Shareable links. Optionally, a visitor's search and filters can be saved in your page's web address, so a shared link opens the same results.

  • Nothing new for visitors to learn. Filters, search, cards and ordering work the same way as the classic library and microsite pages.

What you can customize

You control what each card does from inside UserEvidence; your web team controls how each placement looks and behaves on the page.

In UserEvidence (no code): on each asset's edit page, the Embedded click setting decides what happens when a visitor clicks that card. Changes show up on your site the next time the page loads.

  • Open the asset's UserEvidence page in a new tab (the default)

  • Open a web address you choose, such as a landing page or case study on your own site

  • Do nothing — the card is display-only

How to get started

Setup takes a few decisions from you and a short task for your web team.

  1. Choose what to embed. Pick your research library, a microsite, or both, and the page where each should appear.

  2. Find the identifier your web team needs.

    • For a research library: your account's short name, the last part of your library's web address in UserEvidence.

    • For a microsite: the microsite's short name, the part after /sites/ in its web address.

  3. Set click behavior on your assets. In UserEvidence, check the Embedded click setting on any asset that should link somewhere other than its UserEvidence page.

  4. Note how it should look and behave. For example: your brand colors, 3 columns, 9 items per page, search on, only the Industry filter.

  5. Send it to your web team with the technical documentation link below. If you already use the iframe embed, tell them so; the docs include a step-by-step migration guide.

  6. Check the live page. Confirm the cards load, filters and search work, clicks go to the right places, and it looks right on mobile.

Technical documentation for your web team

It is kept up to date with every UserEvidence release and covers installation, every setting, styling, and click and search behavior. It also includes interactive playgrounds for trying settings live, and a guide for migrating from the iframe embed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a developer? Someone who can edit your website's code needs to paste in the snippet. On most website platforms that takes minutes. Everything else is managed in UserEvidence.

I already use the iframe embed. Do I have to switch? Your web team can swap the iframe for the new embed in the same spot on the page. Your content, filters and card settings carry over automatically. The migration guide in the technical docs walks through it.

When I add or edit assets in UserEvidence, do I need to update my website? No. The embed loads your latest content every time the page loads.

Can I embed more than one library or microsite on a page? Yes. You can place several on one page, including a research library and a microsite side by side.

Will it match my website's design? It picks up your site's fonts automatically. A simple default style is available, and your web team can adjust colors and other details, or style it completely from scratch.

Can I change the text on buttons and messages? Yes. Your web team can replace any wording, such as the search placeholder or the "no results" message.

Does it work on mobile? Yes. Columns narrow automatically on smaller screens.
