How It Works

  1. When creating a new survey, select Import From a Word Document.

  2. Drag and drop or upload a .docx file. The system will analyze your document and automatically identify:

    • Questions

    • Answer choices

    • Question types

  3. Once processed, each question appears as an individual card with:

    • Question text

    • Detected question type

    • Answer options

    • A confidence indicator

      From here, you can:

    • Edit question text

    • Change the question type

    • Add or remove answer options

    • Adjust slider ranges

    • Delete any questions you don’t want to include

Low-confidence extractions are clearly flagged so you know what to review more closely. If your survey already includes a question type that can only appear once (such as NPS), you’ll see a warning. These duplicate questions will be skipped during import.

  4. Before importing, you’ll see a summary that includes:

    • Total number of questions

    • Breakdown by question type

    • Any questions that will be skipped (with explanations)

Click Import X Questions to add them to your survey. Imported questions are added to the bottom of your survey and can be reordered as needed.

Supported Question Types

The importer currently supports:

  • NPS

  • Multiple Choice (single-select and multi-select)

  • Open-ended / Testimonial

  • Slider

  • Matrix

  • Company Information

  • Personal Information

  • Named Attribution

  • Advocate / Reference Volunteer

Tips for Best Results

To improve accuracy when importing:

  • Use numbered or bulleted lists for answer choices

  • Bold question text to distinguish it from supporting content

  • Separate each question with clear spacing or line breaks

  • Include cues for question types when possible

    • Example: “Rate on a scale of 1–10” (slider)

    • Example: “How likely are you to recommend…” (NPS)

Current Limitations

  • Only .docx files are supported (PDFs, Google Docs, and plain text are not supported)

  • Required question settings are not carried over and must be configured manually

  • Branching or skip logic is not imported

  • Matrix questions are imported with default columns and a single row

  • There is no bulk undo — imported questions must be deleted individually if needed

  • File size limit: 30MB
